Designer

Job Type: Full-time, Hybrid

Ashley Montgomery Design is seeking an experienced, detail-driven Designer to join our studio. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and has a passion for creating thoughtfully layered, functional, and beautiful interiors for residential clients. The Designer will work closely with our Principal Designer to bring projects from concept through completion, ensuring every detail aligns with our signature aesthetic.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead design efforts on multiple projects, contributing fresh, inspired ideas that are appropriate for each client and reflect Ashley Montgomery Design vision.
  • Take projects from initial concept through installation, including CAD drawings, sourcing, procurement, scheduling, and vendor negotiations.
  • Collaborate with the team to create compelling presentation boards, including mood boards, FF&E selections, hard finish materials, lighting, and colour palettes.
  • Develop, review and assess construction documents, including conceptual layouts, furniture plans, RCPs, demo plans, and key elevations, recommending adjustments as needed for execution.
  • Develop detailed plan specifications and finish schedules based on client and contractor needs and project requirements.
  • Source and coordinate furniture, fixtures, and accessories with vendors, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining organization and clear communication across all phases.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Advanced skills in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of finishes, materials, furniture, and lighting, including their applications, installation requirements, and sourcing.
  • Proven ability to create comprehensive schedules and specifications with clarity for installers and vendors.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to maintain control of projects under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to provide leadership and guidance to junior team members.
  • Familiarity with design suppliers and showrooms is an asset.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and collaborate as part of a team.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel, including by air for client meetings, site visits, and installations; a valid passport is required.
  • Physical ability to handle and transport samples, furniture, and accessories as needed.
  • Meticulous follow-through and a commitment to delivering exceptional results.
